This is one of those kind-of-weird desserts that is strangely addictive.  A Japanese-style dessert, these are similar to traditional mochi – with a chewy sticky rice “dough” covering an ice-cream center.  The Whole Foods on Pennsylvania Ave. always has a self-serve mochi bar with rotating selection of flavors – Asian (sesame, green tea, lychee), traditional (chocolate, vanilla, coffee) and fruit (mango, strawberry).  Around $2/mochi, they are not cheap, but they are certainly an experience!

Kathy’s favorite: Coffee

Tobey”s Favorite: Strawberry and Vanilla and Mango and Pistachio – I like them all!
