I love a good historical soap opera, and thanks to the musical, everyone is familiar with this one. However, I didn’t realize that Aaron Burr was buried so close by – in Princeton’s Nassau Cemetery, right next to his father (Aaron Sr.) and grandfather (the Great Awakening preacher Jonathan Edwards) – both of whom were presidents of Princeton University. President Grover Cleveland is also buried in the cemetery.
Plus, as a bonus, don’t miss what is arguably the best epitaph ever!

That is a good epitaph, though I think quite a few people have used it – it’s even the title of a book about epitaphs! Seeing Grover Cleveland and Aaron Burr’s graves in the same cemetery would be really exciting (and I guess Jonathan Edwards – I’m not a big fan, but I did take some early American literature classes where I had to read the infamous “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God” so it would still be interesting to see his grave), and knowing there’s ice cream nearby would pretty much make that my ideal day out!

Princeton is a fun town – plenty of history mixed with a rich-kid college town vibe, so lots of good places to eat. The best part is Albert Einstein. You can see the house he lived in (still owned by the Institute and lived in by an employee – nice job perk!). The historical society has a nice exhibit on him, including a great photo of Albert in his fuzzy slippers.
