Lying along the Silk Road, the country of Georgia has been invaded by the Mongols, swallowed up by the Russians then the Soviets, and rides the boarder between east and west, Europe and Asia. Unsurprisingly, Georgia has a cuisine as unique as its history. Now Saami Somi adds this cuisine to the wide ranging options at Reading Terminal Market.
We tried both the traditional cheeseboat and the classic dumplings, both of which were delicious. The cheese boat comes out hot, with a pat of butter and a raw egg that you stir into the cheese before breaking off bits of the bread to dip into the cheese.

The meat-filled soup dumplings have thicker skins and are not as juicy as their Chinese counterparts, so you use a fork rather than the spoon and slurp technique.

Pair your meal with a Georgian soda. If you’re feeling adventurous, try the bright green tarragon flavor, first created in Georgia in 1887.

They also have a bakery selling loaves of the sourdough bread and small market.
