It’s a tie! But, both are on former Dupont properties outside Wilmington and both are full of fountains and quirky details.

The children’s garden at Longwood Gardens is located inside the main conservatory. It’s a multi-level fantasy with steps, ramps, and hidden tunnels. And, because it’s indoors, it’s filled with interesting tropical plantings.

The children’s garden at Winterthur is located outdoors among the extensive gardens. There is plenty of room to run around and explore with a giant bird’s nest, labyrinth, and tiny houses. There is even a fairy circle that shoots mist in the warmer months.  There are loads of recycled elements, and plantings vary with the seasons. My wintertime visit had lots of holiday decorations, but limited flowers.
