Summer in the City

Philly prides itself on both its gardens and beer history. Summer is the perfect time to combine the two.

Parks on Tap

A collab with the city’s park system, the location changes weekly so you can explore parks around the city.

There’s a decent booze selection, food, hammocks and chairs. A portion of proceeds goes towards park improvement projects. Wednesday-Sunday.

PHS Pop-Up Gardens

A collab with the Philadelphia Horticultural Society. They use donations from past flower shows to transform once empty lots. The garden is shady and beautiful with an extensive booze menu, food, screens showing local sports and occasional live music. Two locations: Manayunk and the one we visited on South Street. Open daily.

Rodin Garden

OK, this one’s a bit pricier and the beverage selection isn’t great (PMA members get a discount), but the gardens are beautiful and you get a bit of culture and a DJ with your happy hour. There are several Rodin sculptures scattered around, and for more the museum itself is pay what you wish (The Rodin Museum – A Bit Of Paris In Philadelphia). On our visit there was a food truck parked just outside the garden. Friday nights only.

Mural City Cellars

No beer here, this is Philly’s urban winery who use grapes grown within a 300-mile radius of the city. They operate a wine garden in a vacant lot across the street from the shop. For food there are rotating pop-ups or pizza from the next door pizzeria. Occasional live music. Wednesday-Monday. (Frankford Ave.)
