I’ll admit (although it shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone who reads our restaurant reviews), I’m cheap when it comes to restaurants (there are so many yummy things to eat for under $10), so a place has to be pretty special for me to pay over $60 pp.
I’ve been curious about all the hype surrounding Vedge and intrigued by the concept of vegan fine dining (my previous experience with vegetarian/vegan food has been tofu in disguise), but although I like veggies, I love meat – and there is no way I’m living without cheese and ice cream. It took my friend Donna’s recommendation to finally bite the bullet and make a reservation. I have to say, it was totally worth it for the experience. I think only one dish contained tofu (and that was in a sauce). The rest was veggies in a variety of preparations and seasonings. Since the menu is set up with small plates, the idea is to get a bunch of dishes to share. It’s a nice way to try lots of different things. Even the “ice cream” was good enough to make you forget it’s vegan. The food was delicious, the old townhouse setting beautiful and the staff were friendly. I don’t think we’ll be back (unless someone else is footing the bill), but it was totally worth the experience.
