Lucky for us, a Covid pivot turned this wholesale-only bakery into a retail shop. Now located on the ground floor of the Bok Building (A Rooftop in South Philly…), it’s right next to Two Persons Coffee (Dudley Street entrance), so you can enjoy a coffee along with treats from this French Boulangerie/Pataserie.

We loved our morning pastries (pastry so light, crunchy, buttery…sigh), and this onion focaccia bread is officially the first entry onto our Best Foods of 2022 list.

While you eat, you can watch the chefs working in the back area.

Plus, dining here gets you into one of Philly’s best preservation success stories – the morphing of an abandoned 1930’s technical high school into a dynamic maker space filled with artists, craftspeople, and community groups. The bakery is in the former auto body workshop space. And, it’s just plain fun to visit bathrooms that take you right back to high school.

I know I say a lot of things are my favourite, but I REALLY love focaccia, and that looks so good! I don’t want to be taken back to the bathrooms in high school though. Most of them I wouldn’t venture into at all freshman year for fear of being bullied, and even the ones I would use, I would have to use whilst everyone was in class, because I had a complex about going with other people in there, especially because I had terrible IBS from anxiety back then. Not a fun time!

Luckily, the high school bathrooms come without high school students these days, so I think they much less stressful! I could probably eat that focaccia every day. I’ve tried to make it myself, but never with very good results.
