The Taht family vote (minus Tobey-as a vegetarian she didn’t participate in this one) for best sandwich in Philly 2021 goes to….. the brisket cheesesteak from Mike’s BBQ . WOW! Juicy, tender, smokey brisket with onions and house-made cheese sauce.

The ribs were great, also. Plus, they have sides and specials (our Nashville hot chicken sandwich made with Herr’s hot cheese curls was 🔥🤤🤤!!).

Located off Passyunk Avenue, which is bursting with restaurants on our to-eat list. Not many touristy things to do (although the Italian Market is walkable), it’s a fun neighborhood to stroll and people watch (lots of good dog watching, too).
Open Thursday-Sunday. Order on-line early (opens at 8:00). They usually sell out before official closing. 1703 S. 11th Street

For Vegetarians….
One thing Tobey really misses since becoming vegetarian is bbq, so it was great discovering the plant-based options at Huff & Puff BBQ Philly – corn ribs, bbq pulled jackfruit, smoked watermelon, cauliflower burnt ends, all found on their vegan sampler (plus great fried pickles and rustic-cut fries). 246 S 11th
